Dauphin - 1986: Early August saw Dauphin's biggest annual event. The community's renowned Ukrainian festival attracted 30,000 visitors from across Canada, the U.S, and Europe. Highlights included music and dance at five grandstands, a parade, and a two-block street dance for 4,000. "The festival," reports Dauphin Main Street coordinator Henry Sikora "was a great success. Dauphin - 1987: In 1986, 20 new businesses opened, 15 got new paint, new signs, and maintenance work. Yearly $2 million was spent for commercial construction. Dauphin - 1987: The Main Street Opportunity Centre office continued to supervise Job Strategy workers. Henry Sikora met with the reorganized Economic Development Committee to establish priorities for the project. Dauphin - 1988: Henry Sikora says more and more emphasis is being placed in his community upon information.
